Definition

What it is

Staging is an environment that mirrors production as closely as possible, used for a final check before release. It's the dress rehearsal before opening night.

On many platforms, every branch or change gets its own preview link, which plays the same role: a private URL you can click through and share with teammates before going live.

Ask for a staging or preview link whenever a change is risky: payment flows, sign-in, anything touching existing data.

Say it like a builder

How to ask for it

Vague

“Let me see it before it's live.”

Precise

“Before deploying the new checkout, push it to a staging preview with a copy of production settings and share the link. I'll test a full purchase with a test card there first.”

Why it works

"See it before it's live" might mean a screenshot; "staging" names a full working rehearsal copy you can actually test.
