Production
The live version of your app that real people use, with real data.
What it is
Production (prod) is the real thing: the app at your actual address, holding real customer data. Bugs here affect real people, so changes arrive through deploys, not experiments.
When reporting a problem, say whether it's happening in production or only in development. A bug in production is urgent; one in development is just work in progress.
Production data deserves extra care. Ask before running anything that changes or deletes it in bulk.
How to ask for it
“Something's wrong with the app.”
“In production, customers are seeing a blank page after checkout since this morning's deploy. It works in development. Check the production logs for errors and roll back if it's not a quick fix.”
"Something's wrong" gives no location; saying it's in production (and not development) points straight at the recent deploy.
