Definition

What it is

CRUD stands for Create, Read, Update, Delete. Most app features boil down to these four actions on some kind of record: add a contact, view contacts, edit a contact, remove a contact.

It's a handy checklist. When you ask for "a place to manage clients", ask yourself which of the four you need, and who can do each. Maybe everyone can read, but only admins can delete.

A screen that offers all four for one kind of thing is often called a CRUD screen or admin panel.

How to ask for it

Vague

“I need a way to manage the vendor list.”

Precise

“Build full CRUD for vendors: create via a form (name, email, category), read in a searchable list, update by clicking a row to edit, and delete with an Undo toast. Only admins can delete.”

Why it works

"A way to manage" is vague; CRUD forces each operation and who can do it to be spelled out.
